The Wolf Among Us 2 (previously known as The Wolf Among Us 2: Season 2) is a sequel to the video game The Wolf Among Us.
It was announced during SDCC 2017 in a Telltale Summer Update, and was originally set to be released in 2018, but then was again delayed until 2019. Both Adam Harrington and Erin Yvette were set to return as the voices of Bigby Wolf and Snow White respectively.
The game was originally cancelled as Telltale had a majority studio closure in September 2018 due to "insurmountable challenges," cancelling The Wolf Among Us' second season among other projects in development, such as the untitled Stranger Things series and the planned second season to Game of Thrones.[1]
However, after Telltale's assets were acquired by LCG Entertainment, the game was brought back to the spotlight. The release date remains unknown [2]
According to an Interview with Eurogamer [3] the original The Wolf Among Us: Season 2 would have been a sequel set "some time" after the first season that would follow the next adventure of Bigby and Snow. It also was confirmed it would be a completely new mystery that would not answer the ending cliffhanger question. Later images of an updated logo would reveal it would also be set during the winter, a much asked for setting by fans. Later, after Telltale shut down, rumors were reported that revealed the game would only be about three episodes long due to a low budget, as well as saying not much work had been done on the project by the time the studio closed.
An official reveal trailer has been released on February 9, 2022, confirming the resurrection of the game, the targeted platforms for which it will release and a vague release date.[4]
Revival
With the game's cancellation reverted, it was stated everything from the original project would be restarted from scratch. The only thing that seems the same is the winter setting which was likely to happen regardless as it was a popular choice to set the sequel ever since Season 1 concluded. The New Wolf Among Us 2 will be 5 episodes long although length and release schedule/plans remains unknown. The revival has also confirmed it is set after the events of the first game. It will also be the first Telltale game to not use the Telltale Tool Engine but instead opt for Unreal Engine 4.
