Cryer is a minor character featured in The Wolf Among Us. He is first seen in "Faith," often as a bystander to Bigby's exploits.
Synopsis
Episode 1: Faith
Cryer is first seen when Snow gets Bigby from his apartment. As they walk to the elevator, he walks by them, causing Snow to become paranoid about someone finding out about Faith. He is later seen waiting in line outside the business office along with Grendel and Tiny Tim.
When Bigby chases Tweedle Dee out of Prince Lawrence's apartment, Cryer is again seen in a neighboring building. He is crushed by a couch during the chase.
Cryer is later seen driving Bigby and Snow's taxi to the Trip Trap.
Episode 3: A Crooked Mile
When Bigby arrives at the Buckingham Bridge for Lily's funeral, Cryer is seen driving the taxi. He later drives Bigby and Snow to the Pudding & Pie to confront Crane.
Episode 4: In Sheep's Clothing
After Bigby and the Woodsman get the information they need out of Jersey and leave the Lucky Pawn, Bigby flags down Cryer's taxi. He says goodbye to Woody and enters the cab, either going to The Cut Above or the Woodlands.
Episode 5: Cry Wolf
Cryer drives Bigby's taxi to Sheppard Metalworks after the altercation at the Pudding & Pie. He is later seen waiting in line outside of the Business Office the day after the Crooked Man's trial.
Trivia
- It is possible that Cryer's model is simply used to represent background citizens, and that his character isn't meant to have a canonical story. This is supported by the fact that he often appears in completely different places in short amounts of time, or even at the same time. For example, when Bigby arrives at the Trip Trap in "Faith", his model is seen driving the taxi and sitting by a fire in an alley at the same time.
- In an early version of the story, Cryer was meant to represent The Boy Who Cried Wolf and act as Bigby's deputy during the events of the game. This concept was scrapped when the writers decided that the sheriff acting as a lone wolf fit better with his character in the comic series.[1]
- Cryer doesn't appear in the Book of Fables.
- After the release of episode one, many players theorized that Cryer was the killer due to him being seen in many places, such as outside Toad's tenement and last seen in the taxi with Snow White, however this theory has been debunked as Georgie was revealed to be the killer and Cryer being used as a background character.
